Travel, whether it is for work or leisure, is a common excuse to slip off your exercise routine. On your weight loss journey, it is important to keep your normal exercise routine even while traveling.
If you’re on a business trip, exercise will help with any stress, fatigue and anxiety. Plus, a little workout can help burn off the extra calories that you could be consuming. When planning your trip, try to book a hotel that offers a gym. Many hotels will have a gym with the basics (treadmill, bike, hand weights and maybe a few machines) and some have bands, mats you can check out and use during your stay saving precious room in your luggage.
No gym? No problem!
A pool is great to swim laps or water walk/jog. You can even turn your hotel room into your own gym. All you need is a resistance band and a good pair of shoes.
Example Hotel Room Exercise Routine:
March in place for 5 minutes
Pushups (10 reps) – (can be modified by doing pushups standing with your hands against the wall or a counter top or dresser).
March in place for 5 minutes
Squats or sit to stand (10 reps)
March in place 5 minutes
Abdominal Crunches (10 reps) – (either on the floor or you can even do them on the bed).
Repeat 1-2 more times. When you get done with this routine you will have done what is called a circuit meaning you have done both your cardio and strength exercise without all in one.
