I had an RNY performed in 2006. It was not very successful and I am looking into getting it revised to a DS. Do any of the surgeons perform revision DS from RNY?
That may be an option. They would first want records regarding your original procedure and compliance with the guidelines after the first surgery. Then, they would likely have you undergo testing to see if there is mechanical failure of the original procedure. This is also frequently required for the insurance to approve. Thank you,

Well my original surgery was at Western Baptist in Nashville. I have extremely low metabolism and was told by another surgeon "after" my original surgery that the DS is for those that have very low metabolism and the RNY is not. So it became apparent to me that this is the procedure that I should have had to begin with. I was going to have the revision done this year by Dr. Husted in Somerset, KY and my insurance dictates that I have a full year of visits with my PCP to record my weight before I can have the surgery. I went thru the full year and this February was my last visit. I contact Husted's office after my last visit. I found out that the hospital that he performs at suddenly stopped performing the DS. This sounds unbelievable when I say it and I think that I am still in shock over this after going thru a whole YEAR of visits with my PCP. Right now, I just don't know what to do. I've just about given up on having a revision. I had lost 95 lbs. after 6 months. But after 6 months, the loss HALTED and then I started gaining weight. I've gained about 50 lbs. back.
