I HAD TRIED EVERY DIET KNOWN TO MAN. I THOUGHT THAT I HAD TRIED REALLY HARD. THEN SOME LADIES THAT I WORKED WITH HAD THE GASTIC BYPASS (ROUX N Y). I WATCHED SILENTLY ASKING QUESTIONS ALONG THE WAY. THEN I TOLD MY HUSBAND THAT I WAS HAVING IT AND HE WAS TOTALLY AGAINST IT. I TOLD HIM THAT IT WAS MY DECISION. HE WENT WITH ME TO THE SEMINAR TRYING TO FIND A WAY TO DISCOURAGE ME. AFTER LISTENING TO THE DOCTORS, HE WAS 100% FOR THE SURGERY. I TOLD HIM THAT I WAS GETTING MY CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR 2008. SO AFTER THE CLINIC WORKED WITH MY INSURANCE, I SCHEDULED THE SURGERY ON APRIL 15, 2008. I STARTED MY LIQUID DIET ON APRIL 5, 2008. I TOOK MY OWN BEFORE PHOTO THAT MORNING OF APRIL 5. I WAS TAKING 3 INSULIN SHOTS A DAY AND 2 PILLS THAT WERE 1000 MILLIGRAMS JUST FOR MY DIABETIC PROBLEM. WHEN I STARTED ON THE LIQUID DIET, I THOUGHT WELL HERE GOES ANOTHER DIET. BUT I WAS NOT FULLY CONVINCED. MY STARTING WEIGHT WAS 233. I AM 5FEET 3 INCHES. BY THE DATE OF MY SURGERY, I HAD LOST 13 LBS. I THOUGHT WELL HERE I AM STARTING TO UNWRAP THE CHRISTMAS PRESENT. THEN THE SURGERY OCCURRED. IT WAS NOT VERY PAINFUL AND IN A FEW DAYS THERE WAS NO PAIN AT ALL. I STAYED ON THE DIET PROGRAMED BY THE DOCTORS AND THE DIETIAN. SLOWLY I STARTED UNWRAPPING THE CHRISTMAS PRESENT. THE POUNDS FELL OFF LIKE A SNOWMAN IN THE SUMMER HEAT. I PERSONALLY COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. I WENT BACK FOR MY 6 MONTH CHECK UP, THE DR. ACTUALLY TOLD ME I WAS LOSING TOO FAST AS I HAD LOST LIKE 76-77 LBS AND I WAS ONLY AIMING FOR 105 LBS. SO HE ADDED SOME ADDITONAL PROTEIN. I AM NOW PAST CHRISTMAS, BUT THE CHRISTMAS PRESENT THAT I UNWRAPPED FROM APRIL 15, TO DEC 25, 2008 WAS A NEW WOMAN. I NOT ONLY LOST 90 LBS, I FELT DIFFERENT ABOUT MYSELF AND I GAINED RESPECT FOR MYSELF. THIS DIET TAUGHT ME WHY I WAS EATING ON THE EMOTIONAL LEVEL AND HOW TO CONTROL THAT. THEN THE DICIPLINE OF THE FOOD RAN OVER INTO OTHER AREAS OF MY LIFE SUCH AS FINANCES. WHEN YOU HAVE RESPECT FOR YOURSELF AND YOU LEARN THAT YOU ARE WORTH THE TROUBLE IT CHANGES EVERYTHING ABOUT YOUR LIFE. I HAD A GREAT CHRISTMAS. I WENT FROM BEING IN CLOTHES THAT WERE SIZE 22 TO SIZE 10-12. IT IS SO MUCH FUN SHOPPING FOR CLOTHES. WHAT DO YOU WANT FOR CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR????COULD IT BE A NEW YOU. IF SO, WRAP UP THIS OPPORTUNITY AND GO SEE DR OLSEN OR HIS ASSOCIATES AND GO THRU THIS PROCESS BECAUSE YOU WILL LOVE IT. I WISHED I HAD OF KNOWN ABOUT THIS YEARS AGO. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND DON'T LOSE YOUR LIFE.

Dr. Dyer and his staff were so helpful throughout my entire surgical experience. At first, I was hesistant about having bariatric surgery. I am 3 months post-op and have already lost close to 50lbs. I haven't been this small and felt this healthy in a very long time. I highly recommend Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity to anyone who has exhausted traditional measures for weight loss. Kudos to Dr. Dyer and his staff! Thanks for giving me my life back!

Thank you to all the Center's Staff & the Centenial Staff that assisted with my surgery. I am so grateful to have been referred to Dr Dyer by a friend, who had bariatric surgery. Dr Dyer kept me informed and is sensitive to my feelings & fears. I am surrounded by a fantastic support group at the Center. And am very grateful for the pre-surgical prep requirements, which forced me to begin preparing for my "head hunger issues". I am excited about this next phase in my WLS experience.

WLS has given me my life back. Before: sleep apnea, circulation problems, high BP, pre-diabetic, unable to walk across the parking lot, couldn't enjoy family vacations, depressed. Now: enjoying an active life - walking, running, biking, kayaking, canoing, vacations, buying clothes in the regular department!! All medical problems are a thing of the past. It has been a great re-birth! The staff of Centennial are so helpful and encouraging and I can call them any time.

I thought about bariatric surgery for over 20 years. As my weight and diabetes became more out of control, I began to sacrifice doing the things I had always enjoyed. These sacrifices happened so gradually, that I did not realize my losses until after my surgery. Once a very active, athletic person, I had become a very sedentary person. I could not go up our stairs at home without getting winded. Walking any distance was a horrible chore. I have lost approximately 67% of my excess weight. I am enjoying walking and playing with my four oldest grandchildren. No longer do I dread a trip to the play ground, I cherish it. On a recent trip with my students to visit five campuses in three days to speak with the graduate programs coordinators, I out walked all our students. While at Western Kentucky University, my new nickname became Mountain Goat because I left the folks behind as we walked up the hill top. At 58 years old, I feel better and am enjoying life more than I have for 20 years. I am thankful for my surgeon and the Centennial Center’s staff. The educational materials and support help me achieve and maintain my goals. Kathy Eskew

I started my journy on the 5th day of Jan. 2009 I have lost a total of 79lbs as of April 28! I had the gastric sleeve procedure (VGS) it has done wonder's for me I have nothing but good thing's to say about Dr. Olsen & his staff every thing was went over all concerns & quistions by Dr. Olsen the staff have always been there when I had any questions. If any one is thinking about gastric procedure & is reading this you have found the best of the best make the call!! You will not be let down!! I can do things with my children that was not possible 3 mo. ago we ride bikes & play alot more than before. The only problem I have is that I keep running out of clothes!! I love it!! Hi, I haven't been on the weight loss sight in such a long time. I had my surgery with Dr. Dyer and although I am not one that lost alot of weight up front and thought that I had not done well with the surgery. I am here to tell you that even after 8 years the surgery still works. When I had my surgery the biggest obsticle for me was that I couldn't walk and I thought the biggest outcome was when I lost 50 some pounds and could stand and shop with my kids and my friends. But about 4 years ago I came down with extreme anemia and had to have several blood tansfusions and I was very upset with myself for not having lost more weight and had to have an endoscope done, I asked the doctor how big my stomach was as I assumed it was back to normal size, they told me that it was only the size of an egg. I realized then that the surgery was still working and now I have lost a total of 200lbs. I feel so much better and my GP is amazed that I am still losing weight, so when you get discouraged don't just assume that the surgery doesn't work for life because it does. I feel that because I lost it slower than alot of people that it will stay off alot longer.

Hello everyone...I am sure right about now you are wondering if this surgery is the right thing for you to do. I remember that feelings so much. I knew I was obese and I was desperate to change that but I just didnt know if I could give up my best friend..food. I had my surgery on 11/26/2008 and as of 1/19/2009 I have lost a total of 60 pounds. Isnt that amazing?? In such a short time my life has completely changed. The thing that I have always hated the most about being obese is the time that it took away from my ability to really be there for my children. I wasnt able to play with them or take them out to the park because my knees hurt me so badly anytime I walked or I would run out of air before I even got started.. I had a hard time keeping a job at times because of my weight, as well.It was times like those that made me feel so inadequate and hopeless. What I can tell you is that there is hope and mine came from Centennial. It all started for me when I made that first call to find out what I needed to do to have the surgery. It was a long process for me and I was denied the first time around. The thing is that even through all of that, the team at Centennial was there to support me and they encouraged me to never give up hope. They care so much about each and every one of us and anytime I need a pick me up I go there and someone is always available. Dr. Dyer was my surgeon and I am so grateful to that man for giving me my life back. The one thing I loved and knew about him was that he prays before every surgery. Something about that gave me so much peace. What I can tell you is that I look at food very differently now. At one time "I lived to eat"...now "I eat to live". I was slowly dying because I couldnt stop eating. Today my life is filled with hope, love, wonderful friendship and my life is not controlled by what I am going to eat next or in an hour from now.You dont have to do this alone..I know I didnt. The staff at Centennial and the women and men in the support groups have helped me through my journey and what a wonderful journey it has been and still continues to be!!! God Bless!! I had my gastric bypass surgery on January 14, 2009. All my life I had fought my weight issues. In November of 2007 my husband had gastric bypass surgery with Dr. Dyer. Because of his success I began to carefully consider having the surgery. I had always thought having the surgery would be a sign of giving in to defeat. All the while my denial was creating more and more health problems for me. In addition to high blood pressue, sleep apnia and borderline diabetes, I hurt from my neck to my feet. These issues were beginning to affect my performance as a teacher. It was obvious that my doing nothing was not working for me. Through my husband's encouragement and support, I realized that having the surgery was not a sign of failure but a tool to help me for the rest of my life. The staff at Dr. Dyer's office has been very supportive and encouraging through the whole surgery process. There have been times that I have called the office with questions and concerns and each time I received prompt attention and helpful answers. Let me share one more thought before I close this testimonial. I appreciated the fact that when my husband and I went in Dr. Dyer's office for the first time, we were treated with respect and compassion. I have been in places, even doctor's offices, where I felt "put down" and second rate because of my size. Thanks again for giving me the opportunity for a new life.
