I am 45 years old and the mother of three beautiful children and Nana to 3 year old Matthew. I am a busy Director of Nursing in Long Term Care. i like to read, garden, sing, and dance. Dr. Olsen is one of the most sensitive and professional physicians I have ever dealt with. I was so completely at ease with him at the pre-surgery consultation. He answered all of my questions with great knowledge and patience. What a joy it will be to actually have him do my surgery! The office staff are all very helpful and pleasant considerling that I call them often because of my anxiousness. They always get back to me promptly and are so encouraging! What a blessing this practice is!

Dr. Houston is a very caring, compassionate man who cares deeply about his patients. After you get to know him a little better, he can be downright funny. I like him a lot. He knows his stuff. He does not take chances with your health... He has a great "better safe than sorry" approach to little medical worries that pop up in the hospital. He visited both me and my husband while we were in the hospital at least 2-3 times a day, sometimes four. His bedside manner was/is an excellent compliment to his amazing surgical skills. He never hid stuff from us. He was very upfront about all the risks (and the benefits). Dr. Houston deserves a great big 10!

Dr Houston has really changed my life. I had been denied this surgery 4 times by my insurance company (BCBS). So I finally made the decision to use my retirement fund for the surgery since I had been told I would'nt live to be 35, I wasn't going to make it to retirement anyway. I made a phone call to Dr. Houston's office after doing research on the web. I was totally surprised when he himself answered the phone. I told him my story and he talked to me for about an hour on the phone. When we hung up, I had an appointment 2 days later in Nashville. Now tell me who gets an appointment in Nashville on two days notice. When I left Nashville two days later, I was ready for surgery. Bloodwork complete, pschye evaluation complete, and surgery day set. I truly believe this was my miracle. I am alive today because of that one phone call. After getting off track and gaining 60 lbs I was afraid to go to the doctor and didn't for 6 + months because I was so ashamed. When I did get my "nerve" up to go back to the doctor, the staff treated me as though I had never left. They didn't make me feel like a failure, they wer more like what can we do to get you back on track again. I am so proud to be associated with this great Doctor and his staff. I am very disappionted with BCBS, I even cringe at the name now. They could have helped be to become a healthier person and the money they would have saved on medication alone would have paid for the cost of the surgery in less than 2 years. Their reply and reason for denial was that the surgery was a cosmetic procedure, even though I had been told by 3 drs that I would most likely not live to be 35. I was 33 at the time of their last denial.

I attended the initial informational seminar on Tuesday evening, June 3, 2008 @ Centennial Medical Center, Nashville. Dr. David Dyer is the one who spoke that night, and I was very impressed by the thoroughness of his presentation, and the answers he gave to our questions. He doesn't seem like the type of person that would just tell you what you want to hear. He seems like he would present you with the facts, pros and cons, and let you make an informed decision yourself. I appreciated that. Am looking forward to working with his office more, and advancing down the road toward surgery!

I am a 40 year old mother of 3 and I love to read a write poetry but seem to not have as much energy to even do those things after work. I have a consult with my surgeon for the Lap Band surgery on November 19, 2004. I am excited about this because in the beginning my insurance did not cover the Lap Band but I called them recently and found that my plan has changed and there are now no exclusions, just have to prove medical necessity. I met Dr. Dyer when I sat in on the consult he was doing with my cousin and also was there for her surgery. He was so darned good at explaining everything and took his time on her surgery because of her weight. He only scheduled her for that day because he said he wanted to focus only on her surgery.
