Click here to read more Comments About Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity: I first met Dr. Houston at a seminar. He impressed me then but I was more impressed when I had my consultation. He described everything in detail and answered all my questions. My surgery is going to be more difficult because of 7 previous hernia surgeries and possible adhesions. He was undaunted by the fact that it would be more difficult. He said it might take 6-8 hours to do but acted like it was no big deal. I like his confidence. I have "checked him out" and found that he has excellent credentials. All of the posts I have found from previous patients were excellent. He is one of a few surgeons who does lap revisions. Revisions are difficult and require more skill; a lot of surgeons will not do them - but Dr. Houston will! Right now I give him a 20 out of 10. Will let you know more after surgery! 8/31/04 Am 6 days post-op and must tell you all that I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Houston in a minute.

Personal Comments: I have a wonderful personality and I love to have fun. 07-12-04 I know I haven't been updating my profile like I should but I guess I got discouraged because I had not heard anything from the insurance company on rather or not I was approved for my surgery. Well today was the best Monday that I have in a long time. I got to work an hour early so I could have some time to focus on writing an appeal letter to my insurance company. Comments About Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity: My first impression of Dr. Douglas Olsen was that he was very informative on the different types of bariatric surgeries that were out there. When he speaks to you he explains everything clearly to make sure that you understand. Dr. Olsen explains all the pros and cons of the surgery. My impression has staed the same. The staff was very nice and they will do what ever they can to try and help you with any questions that you may have. There was not anything about him that I did not like.Dr. Olsen really emphasizes aftercare he wants to make sure that you follow his orders. Cenntennial has a great aftercare program and I can not wait to go.Dr. Olsen made sure I understood the risk of this surgery and made sure I was aware of everything that could possibly happen. I would rate Dr. Olsen 10.Both are great competence, and bed side manners.

Personal Comments: A little about me... I am 28 years old, I have been married for 5 years. I have been overweight since grade school. I have been on tons of diets since then. I never had regular menstral cycles and started seeing an OBGYN way before any girl should have to. I was on birth control long before I had ever even kissed a boy LOL This went on until I was 20 years old with no idea what the problem was and just a bunch of doctors telling me I needed to lose weight.

Personal Comments: 11-01/04 - I am 32 years old and happily married for 11 years. We have a very energetic 10 year old son. I struggled with my weight all my life and decided to finally break the yo-yo cycle and make a life long commitment. Food has always been my comfort but I want that to change so bad. My life is so good.....God has blessed me with wonderful family and friends. I am so excited about the surgery. I just know it is right for me. Comments About Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity: Honestly, I had not known anyone personally who was a patient of Dr Houston. I just had a friend who had WLS (Roux-en-Y) by Dr Dyer and she liked him, but said he was very serious and doesn't have the bedside manner. She told me she met Dr Houston while she was in the hospital and thought he was nice and really handsome, so of course I chose him. My first impression was indeed he is HOT (hehehe), but then as he introduced himself, he was very friendly and inquisitive, unlike some doctors that are ready to get you in and out as quickly as possible. I noticed he was staring at me up and down throughout the conversation. I don't know why. I thought maybe he was getting an idea of my weight or maybe wondering if I was obese enough (since I am just at the 100 lb mark). He asked me how I heard about him, what surgery I wanted, if I understood this was a life long comittment, etc, etc.

Personal Comments: I have been over weight for about 22 years. I really want to have surgery as I have tried everything else to no avail. My insurance doesn't pay for any weight loss treatment so I am going to try and pay for it mayself. My hobby is camping we have a 5th wheel trailer and go as often as possible. I have had a change of heart after doing more research and I am now going to have RNY gastric bypass. My surgeon is Dr. Dougals Olsen at Centennial in Nashville. Comments About Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity: I am no longer going to use Dr. Ponce I have chosen Dr. Douglas Olsen at the Cenntenal center in Nashville. I have my first appointment on Nov.2 04 My first impression of him was that he is very knowlegable about what he does. The office staff is very informative, understanding, Kind, and helpful.

Personal Comments: 01/04/2006 - I am now one year out. I am down to 202 lbs, and have 52 lbs to loose in order to reach my goal. I just checked my BMI and I am at 29.8....that is considered "overweight". I am no longer considered "obese" by medical standards! I didn't realize how that would make me feel until just now. I have been obese since I was in high school...even before. I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and I can't wait to be "normal". I have never felt better in my life. Comments About Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity: There are nothing but good things to say about Dr. Houston and his staff at Centennial. I had 3 friends at work who had Dr. Houston as their surgeon. They each loved him, and his staff...and so do I. Dr. Houston was extremely informative of the benefits and the dangers of the surgery during my consultation. He was also up front with me about the fact that it was not going to be easy, and it would take a lot of hard work and dedication to the program to meet my goal. I liked the fact that he was honest about those things. The aftercare program at the Center for the Treatment of Obesity at Centennial Medical Center is the most comprehensive I have yet to see. Believe me, I really did my research before choosing Dr. Houston. I even looked into going to Dallas! Attending seminars and getting information from the surgeons you are considering is extremely important! I can't emphasize that enough to any of you out there contemplating this life-changing surgery.

Comments About Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity: He took alot of time at our consultation and explained everything thoroughly, including risks. He had a good sense of humor about some personal situation that happened while we were in his office. He was very professional at the same time. He has one nurse who is very busy but kind and caring. I did think it odd that while I was in the hospital that he never looked at my incisions. Then I thought how much trust he has in his nursing staff in the hospital. They probably gave hime a report and he didn't feel the need to follow behind them. I was VERY, VERY thankful that he does not send patients home with the drain ports from the incisions. I told him by doing so, I was able to immediately be more active and that I started walking on the treadmill the day I got home from the hospital. He was able to work around some scar tissue that I had and performed the sugery laproscopically. What a relief to wake up and find that out.

Comments About Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity: Dr. Olsen was very nice and informative. I had brought a lot of questions with me to ask but he answered almost all of them before I had a chance to even ask. Now I've had the surgery and my impression of him is the same. I had an infection to come up around my belly button from one of the incisions and I was so scared it would hurt when I had to go in and let him reopen the incision. But he was so easy with me and kept asking if he was hurting me. He really does seem to care about his patients feelings. The office staff is wonderful also. I would recommend him to anyone who is considering this surgery. He is also very strict about the aftercare, if there is ever a problem he will make sure to take care of it. I would give him a 10 out of 10, Thanks Dr. Olsen!

Personal Comments: Press play to hear"Somewhere Over The Rainbow" Welcome View the pictures of my journey on http://www.picturetrail.com/olemissmrs I turned 30 on October 5th, the same day I went to the seminar at Centennial. When my husband asked me what I wanted to do for my big 3-0, I told him I wanted him to go to the seminar with me, with an open mind and I wanted him to see what I wanted. Comments About Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity: Being a lawyer, I am naturally skeptical about certain situations and I had my questions typed out and ready to ask at my first visit with Dr. Houston. Not only did he answer every one, but he did so before I could ask some of them. He was funny and very nice but was extremely concerned that I did not take this decision lightly. He emphasized aftercare at the first meeting, while I was in the hospital, when I was discharged and even on the phone the day I was released. He personally returned phone calls shortly after messages were left and he addressed all my concerns. Holly was wonderful and very concerned about my understanding of the process and most of my calls and e-mails were returned within the day I sent them. Overall I would say that Dr. Houston is comitted to his patients, his practice and his desire to make beautiful people even more beautiful (making their outsides match their insides)!
