My entire life I have struggled with my weight. I was never able to share clothes with my girlfriends, I had trouble keeping up in the sports I played, and couldn't even enjoy the fun things about being a kid/teenager because my weight prevented me from physically participating, or I was too embarrassed to be involved. Three years ago, I became the mother to a beautiful baby boy, and decided that it was time I made some changes and work towards becoming a healthier woman and mother. I tried a few diets, including Slim Fast and Weight Watchers, but nothing ever seemed to help me do anything but lose a couple pounds, and it was hard to stay consistent. In July 2011, I was offered a job working for Dr. David Dyer at the Centennial Campus in Nashville, TN. It was wonderful to see all of the transformations and hear the wonderful testimonies from post op patients who came in each day. On many occasions, I did research and asked questions about the different kinds of bariatric surgery, but never quite felt like it would be right for me. After all, I was only 23 years old, I had my whole life ahead of me to work on losing weight and getting healthy. After working for Dr. Dyer for about 9 months, I noticed that I had gained extra weight and my health was slowly declining. My back and legs ached and throbbed all day, I couldn't walk up and down the stairs at my house, I couldn't fit in any of my clothes, and worst of all, I couldn't play with my son for more than a short period of time without feeling like I could pass out. I had hit 300 pounds and this was the final straw. I began the process of going through the insurance approval and spoke with Dr. Dyer about my interest in Gastric Bypass surgery. My insurance changed its guidelines about the time I finished my third month of my 6 moth diet prep, and I was able to get an approval after 3 months instead of 6! I had my surgery on July 2, 2012. For the first few weeks, I had a hard time with regret and depression and really was not sure that I had made the right decision. Anytime I felt down, I always had a great support system to help me back up. Between my family and my co-workers, I was able to keep pushing on. One morning, about 6 weeks out of surgery, I woke up and I felt like a new person! I had energy again, there was no pain or regret anymore, and I was HAPPY for the first time in years. It has been 4 months since my surgery, and as of today I have lost 80 pounds! I weigh 227 and this is the first time since I was in the 8th grade that I have been under 230 pounds. I look great, I feel great, and I could not be happier with my decision to undergo Gastric Bypass surgery and to have Dr. Dyer perform it for me!

Well my new life is just about to start, and I want to tell everyone about Centennial Weight Center their staff and doctors. I had my first meeting with Dr. Houston on June 5, 2012 and he went over the options of surgery. Dr. Houston was very friendly and explained everything about the sleeve gastrectomy and duodenal switch. He explained the difference and what to expect from both surgeries. So after a long meeting with him I am going with the duodenal switch and very excited for my new life about to start. After the meeting I was taken in and Ms.Holly set up all the necessary paper work and may I say she is very nice. I first attended the informational Seminar back in April 2012 and from the first step inside the door it was a very friendly setting. I just can't say enough about the staff, they are all so nice, makes you feel very welcome. If anyone is thinking about weight loss surgery I would highly recommend Centennial and Dr. Houston.

I have not had my surgery yet, but wanted to tell you how wonderful my first visit was to talk about the surgery. I met with Dr. Houston & Staff on May 1, 2012, & was so very happy. They are some of the nicest people you'll ever want to meet. Dr. Houston took lots of time with me, to explain everything that he would be doing & what to expect afterwards. Then the staff took off & got things set up for my new adventure. I am so excited about having the Sleeve done & I can't wait for July 16th to get here. I have hurt with arthritis for so long because of my weight, that I'm looking so forward to the relief, besides getting back down to my normal size, (it's been quite a while for that). I highly recommend Dr. Houston for your journey with bariatric surgery!! Thank you everyone for being so kind & helpful!! Blessings, Evelyn Baggett

Dr Houston saved my life..litterally. He did not perform the gastric bypass I had nearly 10 years ago, but I wish he had. Highly unusual symtoms began to appear in recent years that seemed like regular gastric issues that could be explained away. When the symtoms reached life threatening levels, none of the best internal doctors seen in Nashville had answers. Someone reccomended Dr. Houston and that was the day that changed my life. He never gave up on me or turned me away, he fixed what no one else could. He listed when no one else would. He is a very skilled surgeon. His staff and fellow physicians are top notch in every way. From the receptionist to the nurses that assist with post op, I have nothing but the highest respect for everyone involved in this practice.

Dr David Dyer performed gastric bypass surgery on me and it is the smartest and best thing I have EVER done. I have lost 125 pounds and I feel and look so much better. I'm only sorry I waited so long. I have gone from close to 300# (at my heaviest) to 172 currently. Dr. Dyer is the best and I wholeheartedly recommend him!

I had gastric bypass. I let myself go way too long and was beginning to have major problems. 125 plus pounds later I'm living a new life, physically, emotionally, mentally, you name it. I feel better than I have in 30 years. Thanks Dr. Olson.

When I began my journey I weight 326 pounds. Now as of February 23, 2012, I weigh 177 pounds. I cannot believe the difference in my life. It is like I have been given a second chance at life. I have more energy than I ever have. I can do things I never thought was possible. I have ran eight 5K races in the past year. It is such a blessing to be able to move. I would like to thank Dr. Olsen and his staff who have been there every step of the way. I would like for anyone that may be considering surgery to not wait. The only regret that I have through this journey is that I should have done it sooner. Enjoy life!!!
